A few weeks ago I worked with Kristi and Aaron on their engagement session at the gorgeous Silverleaf Country Club. We strolled along the beautiful stone walls, talked about the final weeks before the wedding, what's left to do, and what's been finished. Anticipation was rising as the wedding was only a few weeks away. We laughed and laughed about the craziness of wedding planning and the hopes of the day unfolding perfectly. I mentioned on their engagement post about their constant laughter in front of the camera, but little did I know that their wedding day would be filled with even more joy and excitement.
When we arrived at Troon Country Club, we were greeted by the lovely Victoria Canada who helped Kristi and Aaron pull their FABULOUS day together. I knew this wedding would be awesome and we couldn't wait to get started on photos! We took a peek at the gorgeous reception hall that was adorned with amazing centerpieces by the one and only Tamera from Petal Pusher. The details were awesome.
Photos began with the sun high and the weather cool. Serendipity Videography walked the course with me to look for the perfect spot for Kristi and Aaron's first look. It was a PERFECT day in Scottsdale for a wedding! We walked along the Troon golf course and looked for some shade as Kristi and Aaron had their first look together. Kristi was nothing but smiles as she approached Aaron in the tunnel as the day was just beginning.
It was uplifting to watch their continued smiles throughout the day and witness their true appreciation for each other. Kristi, I am always amazed by your constant sweet smile and Aaron, we thank you so much for all your kind words you have said to us. You both are such sweet spirits and we are so thankful we were a part of your day!
Last Sunday, Stephen and I arrived in Las Vegas for a photographers conference. As the craziness of the convention continued, I received a voicemail from Kristi and Aaron. Thanking us for being a part of their day. I couldn't have been filled with more joy that my bride and groom actually called me the DAY AFTER THEIR WEDDING DAY!? Stephen and I really appreciated their words and thankfulness and genuinely felt appreciated and loved. Thank you Kristi and Aaron! You both are truly beautiful and we feel so blessed to have watched your unique day unfold. Click HERE to see a slideshow of the rest of the day! |

I met Marissa last year in old town scottsdale with two of her adorable high school friends. They wanted friend portraits and photos to remember high school by. They brought a suitcase full of clothes and they all shared their sense of style. I asked them all what they wanted to do after graduation, about boys and about all the juicy details about being a student in my brothers Bible class. Marissa told me she was going to FIDM to study fashion and she couldn't fit the role any better. I mean, we all saw Lauren Conrad from the Hills attend FIDM... WHO wouldn't want that?! Marissa would be awesome in Fashion but it looks like God has different plans for her.
I received a call this year from Marissa to photograph her senior portraits as she prepares to graduate SCA this may and continue her studies else where. Marissa told me over e-mail she has decided she no longer wants to go to FIDM but she's thinking about becoming a photographer. I couldn't be MORE excited for her! I think this job is the BEST job in the world and I recommend it to anyone. As we chatted a bit more, I realized Marissa has a serious heart to serve people around her. I love it. I want to be apart of it. She's not just a gorgeous blonde with awesome fashion sense, she's a serious girl with a huge heart for people and doing something great in the world. I photographed Marissa's fun side but I also photographed Marissa's serious side. I wanted to depict that side here today because as she graduates college, I know Marissa has a lot of decisions to make and shes serious about changing the world. Congrats on your graduation Marissa! I can't wait to watch you change the world and I know you'll go a far ways with your HUGE heart. I can't wait to have coffee with you and chat about your new adventures in photography! |

| I love this next series of pictures. Marissa is a really smart girl and she has a serious heart for not only people but her career and I love these photos because I think they really frame her personality. |

| Marissa, you are GORGEOUS! |

If you're a photographer, videographer or simply involved in the wedding industry, you know about WPPI. It's THE event to be at every year in Vegas and its where to learn and get to know new people. This is my second year attending and this year was even better than last. If you've been thinking about attending WPPI .. you SHOULD!
I received an e-mail a week before we were scheduled to fly to Vegas from a REALLY nice guy from Showit. Jason asked if I would be willing to sit and chat with anyone that wanted to ask questions about business, photography and just life. I was PUMPED to have the opportunity to hang out with other photographers at WPPI and meet some new people! I felt so honored but a little undeserving of this opportunity! I responded within two minutes of reading the e-mail and was STOKED to be apart of it.
It's amazing how many familiar faces you see amongst the 14,000 photogs at WPPI but it happens quite often. I ran into Jamie Delaine near some of the conference rooms and we talked about the meet up. Jamie also met up with a group of photographers earlier this week and she told me what to expect. I got a bit nervous as time crept on. People really want to come and see me talk about my business? For real? I'm nothing special and I don't run my business in any special way, its just me. I got nervous no-one would care and it would be just me and Stephen sippin on some coffee in the Showit room bummed no-one showed up. Little did I know, there were actually some AWESOME people planning on coming!
I just want to thank everyone for being so awesome and spending an hour with me talking about how we run our business. I was so impressed with how NICE and genuine everyone really was.
A special thanks to everyone in the photo below : Jamie Delaine, Emily Scott, Kristen, Katelyn James, Promise Tangeman, Heather Pepin, Jessica Smith, Alex Ho, and Jerry Vergel. (If I left anyone out, LET ME KNOW!)
Thanks so much everyone! If you haven't yet, you NEED to have a SHOWIT site. SIGN UP! If we haven't connected on twitter, we should!! Find me HERE and Stephen HERE. I finally coerced Stephen to give into the new technology :) |

| AND.... today I spend a few hours with an adorable couple and fellow photographer! Can't wait to post these next week!! |

Hey guys! I am SO excited to hang out with Showit at WPPI this Tuesday in Vegas! I will be among the 10 featured photographers to hang out with and simply talk business, photography and life. If any of you all are interested in chatting with me or any of the other photographers, be sure to RSVP HERE. I am so stoked to represent such an awesome business with a great team of people. Hopefully I'll see everyone there! :)
Also, I am SO excited to post an upcoming mock up event and an AWESOME couple this coming week. Ashley Gain is seriously one of the most beautiful and talented girls around and I feel SO honored to have been asked to photograph her gorgeous designs. She is getting ready to launch her new website and I can't wait to show what she's all about! For now, be sure to follow her on twitter. I photographed Ashley's wedding over a year ago and I feel so blessed to now work with her in this awesome industry! Check out this sneak peek for what's to come next week!

I first met Katelin at a bible study a few years ago. She struck me as not only naturally beautiful but as genuine. As time passed, I heard about Katelin's engagement to this guy Blake who lived in Texas. All I knew about Blake was that he lived in Texas and Katelin was madly in love with him. I knew I would meet him one day and he would be just as great as Katelin is! Sure enough, he is. Last week, we met each other at The Farm at South Mountain to take engagement photos. This location was perfect for the two of them since Blake proposed at the restaurant inside the The Farm . I listened as Katelin enthusiastically told me about how Blake proposed and I think I was just as excited as they were while they told their story. Katelin and Blake are seriously two of the most gorgeous people inside and out. I don't know them as well as I would like but I do see genuine love and character through the both of them. I can't wait for you two to be married and begin your life together. I know you will both do GREAT things together. Thank you SO much for giving Stephen and I the honor of documenting your engagement!
