San Francisco Contest

I know what you're thinking. This is weird. You may be laughing or you may just be saying out loud how stupid I look. I posted these photos while vacationing in Mammoth California. We just arrived a few days ago and Im already aching and bruised from snowboarding. I figured the moose head fit the location nicely and just HAD to use it for my self portrait! Why am I posting this?
Stephen and I will be house sitting for our cousin in the heart of San Francisco this coming March 22-28th. I can't imagine visiting such an awesome place and NOT photographing someone in the city. I get excited just thinking about all the gorgeous places we could take photos of someone. Last week, I tweeted (are we twitter friends yet?) and updated my facebook status looking for a couple to photograph while visiting San Fran. No charge, just a fun down to earth shoot of two fun people we've never met before. The responses to the tweets and facebook updates were AWESOME and since there were so many responses, I felt it was best to run a contest to pick the winning couple. BUT I want everyone to know that this contest is open not only to those that live in San Fran (or close by) but any blog reader that wants to participate. If you aren't able to make it to San Fran, Ill be rewarding the second most creative photo a 30 dollar Itunes card.
Here are the rules :
1. Im looking for the most creative self portrait of either one individual or both of the contestants entering to win. You have to be a couple to enter. Married, not married... doesn't matter! *** BUT if you are single you can still enter to win the itunes gift card. PLEASE still submit!
2. The photo cannot be taken by another person, it has to be set up entirely by timer on a tripod or any surface.
3. You have to use something (a prop) creatively in the photograph. Im looking for creativity. It can be funny, beautiful or just plain simple. Just looking for creativity. Doesn't matter what it is.
4. You have to leave a comment with your name and location and then send your photograph to my e-mail (stephanie@stephaniefay.com) explaining your portrait.
5. You can only submit ONE entry so make it a good one!
6.The photoshoot will have to take place between March 23rd-28th
7. This is supposed to be fun so have FUN with it! :)
THATS IT! Please send in your best photograph and we will see who wins :) I will announce the winner on Feb. 15th. and I will post all the most creative photos on my blog. We are also offering mini portrait shoots at discounted price if anyone is interested! E-mail me for all the info.
GOOD LUCK!

Daris and Jason : Engagements

A few months back, I received an e-mail from a photographer in the valley that was urging to grow his business and learn more. We sat over coffee at Starbucks and listened to each other's struggles and success with the industry. It meant so much to get to know someone else in the valley that understands how this business works. Little did I know that this guy I sat over coffee with would soon become engaged and actually ask ME to photograph his wedding! I feel so honored to be documenting Jason and Daris' wedding. I first met Daris at the Sassi venue where they will be married this March. We sat around a big table and talked about our experiences with dress shopping, vendors to use and of course photos.
Thank you SO much Daris and Jason for giving us this opportunity! You two were so amazing to photograph!

Daris is seriously the sweetest girl. She is of course STUNNING but also has such a sweet heart.

I loved watching them interact with each other. Jason is so sweet with Daris and always wanted to make sure she was comfortable.

This is one of my favorite shots from the day. It doesn't even seem like we are in Phoenix!

Jason's business is also here in the Phoenix area and he brought some of his old vintage cameras to give his shoot some flair.

Jason had some fun in the trees photographing Darris with his old cameras. So fun!

The light was just simply DELICIOUS!

Claire and Olivia : my nieces

I often think about what I would do with my time if I knew my life would end in 90 days. I often think of all the places in the world I would see and what I would do when I would get there. Although seeing the world is exciting, adventurous and memorable, none of it means anything it if not spent with the people you love the most. If you asked any stranger what they would do before they die, most of them would probably say, spend my time with the people I love the most. It's natural, it is normal, and it is what we are here on this earth to do. Create and nourish relationships.
This is the bigger picture in life. Life isn't about money, success, or fame, it's about loving the people around you.
Marrying my husband Stephen has not only brought me so much happiness knowing that I can now spend my life with my best friend but it has brought me closer to a new and different family. It's a crazy concept to think that by marriage, you will forever join together with strangers and call them family. It's funny how God created within us an innate ability to love someone regardless of who they are, what they do, and where they live. We all just seem to have this warm and fuzzy feeling deep down inside of us that we call love. We can't quite explain it, we just simply desire to love and be loved back. It's what keeps our world functioning.
This is my family. My new family. During the Christmas holiday, I received an e-mail from my sister-in law Erin asking if Stephen and I would be willing to document our nieces, Olivia and Claire. I of course couldn't wait to be a part of documenting these adorable cute munchkins lives! I feel HONORED to have been a part of this and I am so thankful for such an amazing new beautiful family. God is Good.

Olivia was just born on January 19th and she is just FRESHLY new to the world. For those of you that have ever photographed newborns, know that it's HARD. They don't want to be disturbed one bit... they just want to sleep sleep sleep. Olivia was just darling and we had just enough time to capture her sleeping! After looking through the photos, be sure to click HERE to see a slideshow!

She just looks like a little angel.

This is Claire.

I ADORE this photo of Claire. She is just SO excited to be on the rocks so close to the water. Her smile is just so cute!

I chose this photo not only because of Claire's adorable green boots but because the footprint in the sand reminded me of the poem "Footprints in the Sand". Even though this is not any of our own footprints, it reminded me of the line : "For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD."

Christine and Rowdy Expecting

Last week, I had the honor of photographing one of my best friends and her adorable husband just a few weeks before her due date! Christine and I became friends years ago in school. Our friendship has continued through some of the biggest times of our lives. Graduating college, watching each other get married to the loves of our lives and now we welcome a new baby girl into our circle of friends. I just cannot believe our lives have flown by so quickly and we are now walking our lives by faith as we all prepare to grow our families even larger. Although Stephen and I are not quite ready to start a family of our own, I almost feel like we are sharing in Christine and Rowdy's excitement as I seriously think Im almost just as excited for this new baby as they are. I CANNOT wait to meet sweet little Bella. I have no doubt she will be gorgeous and a blessing to the world. Christine has been on bed rest for a while now and I was so excited we were able document baby Bella even under best rest circumstances. We walked the path behind Christine and Rowdy's home and used the gorgeous desert landscape. Its amazing how beautiful the desert really is with amazing sunlight. The perfect light, the perfect couple with huge hearts of love... everything just seems to look perfect.
Congratulations Christine and Rowdy! We can't wait to meet her!!

It's so cute to watch a soon to be dad talk about his pregnant wife and the new baby. Its just so sweet.

Christine looks pretty DARN FABULOUS!

Natalie and Reggie : Wedding

I learned a lot about Natalie and Reggie at their engagement session a few months ago. I feel in love with their bubbly colorful personalities and their HUGE hearts of love. The thing I LOVE about Natalie is her unfailing ability to make Reggie laugh. No matter what they are doing, they are ALWAYS laughing. When Stephen and I arrived at her house to photograph the tiny details as Natalie prepared for the day, she embraced us both with excitement as she told us about the wedding details. I think we were almost as excited as she was!
We headed over to Brophy Chapel to photograph the groomsmen and as we were driving, we noticed tiny raindrops on the windshield. Phoenix had been experiencing A LOT of storms the week prior and we all prayed for sunshine. Better yet, the day was perfectly cloudy with spots of sun. It was perfect. Natalie purchased white umbrellas for everyone just in case.
After the ceremony, we headed out to the beautiful Tempe Center of the Arts for the reception. Although it was freezing outside, Natalie and Reggie bared through the cold and posed so graciously for the camera. I feel honored to have been apart of this day and we feel so thankful for the generosity that both Natalie and Reggie's family showed us. You guys are both such BEAUTIFUL people and I couldn't be happier with how the day went!

The jewelry below was given to her by her grandmother and great grandmother.

Natalie has the prettiest skin!

Reggie loves batman and i thought it was so cute he actually found cuffs on ebay!

This was SUCH a sweet moment. I definitely had to hide behind the pillar while I wiped a few tears away.

I LOVED the beautiful vintage car they rented!

They are ALWAYS smiling! I love it!

Reggie is so sweet around Natalie. He is so kind hearted.

Natalie is seriously STUNNING.

This is one of my favorite photos of the day

One of Natalie's bridesmaid made her veil.

The venue had a beautiful negative edge pool in from of the reception venues. it looked stunning from inside.

Natalie and Reggie had someone actually design their cake topper for them! TOO cute!

Reggies aunts and uncles decorated the entire reception hall! GORGEOUS!

Natalie and Reggie surprised EVERYONE at the wedding with dragon dancers! What an awesome experience!

I must say that there were A LOT of good dancers at the reception!!!
