Stephanie Fay Photography Blog http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/ Stephanie Fay Photography Blog en-us Kristi and Aaron: Wedding at Troon Country Club http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=144 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=144 Mon, 15 Mar 2010 11:44:00 GMT engagement session at the gorgeous Silverleaf Country Club. We strolled along the beautiful stone walls, talked about the final weeks before the wedding, what's left to do, and what's been finished. Anticipation was rising as the wedding was only a few weeks away. We laughed and laughed about the craziness of wedding planning and the hopes of the day unfolding perfectly. I mentioned on their engagement post about their constant laughter in front of the camera, but little did I know that their wedding day would be filled with even more joy and excitement.
When we arrived at Troon Country Club, we were greeted by the lovely Victoria Canada who helped Kristi and Aaron pull their FABULOUS day together. I knew this wedding would be awesome and we couldn't wait to get started on photos! We took a peek at the gorgeous reception hall that was adorned with amazing centerpieces by the one and only Tamera from Petal Pusher. The details were awesome.
Photos began with the sun high and the weather cool. Serendipity Videography walked the course with me to look for the perfect spot for Kristi and Aaron's first look. It was a PERFECT day in Scottsdale for a wedding! We walked along the Troon golf course and looked for some shade as Kristi and Aaron had their first look together. Kristi was nothing but smiles as she approached Aaron in the tunnel as the day was just beginning.
It was uplifting to watch their continued smiles throughout the day and witness their true appreciation for each other. Kristi, I am always amazed by your constant sweet smile and Aaron, we thank you so much for all your kind words you have said to us. You both are such sweet spirits and we are so thankful we were a part of your day!
Last Sunday, Stephen and I arrived in Las Vegas for a photographers conference. As the craziness of the convention continued, I received a voicemail from Kristi and Aaron. Thanking us for being a part of their day. I couldn't have been filled with more joy that my bride and groom actually called me the DAY AFTER THEIR WEDDING DAY!? Stephen and I really appreciated their words and thankfulness and genuinely felt appreciated and loved. Thank you Kristi and Aaron! You both are truly beautiful and we feel so blessed to have watched your unique day unfold. Click HERE to see a slideshow of the rest of the day!

Marissa : Senior Portraits Scottsdale http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=143 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=143 Sat, 13 Mar 2010 01:18:00 GMT FIDM to study fashion and she couldn't fit the role any better. I mean, we all saw Lauren Conrad from the Hills attend FIDM... WHO wouldn't want that?! Marissa would be awesome in Fashion but it looks like God has different plans for her.
I received a call this year from Marissa to photograph her senior portraits as she prepares to graduate SCA this may and continue her studies else where. Marissa told me over e-mail she has decided she no longer wants to go to FIDM but she's thinking about becoming a photographer. I couldn't be MORE excited for her! I think this job is the BEST job in the world and I recommend it to anyone. As we chatted a bit more, I realized Marissa has a serious heart to serve people around her. I love it. I want to be apart of it. She's not just a gorgeous blonde with awesome fashion sense, she's a serious girl with a huge heart for people and doing something great in the world. I photographed Marissa's fun side but I also photographed Marissa's serious side. I wanted to depict that side here today because as she graduates college, I know Marissa has a lot of decisions to make and shes serious about changing the world. Congrats on your graduation Marissa! I can't wait to watch you change the world and I know you'll go a far ways with your HUGE heart. I can't wait to have coffee with you and chat about your new adventures in photography!

I love this next series of pictures. Marissa is a really smart girl and she has a serious heart for not only people but her career and I love these photos because I think they really frame her personality.

Marissa, you are GORGEOUS!

WPPI SHOWIT MEETUP http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=142 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=142 Wed, 10 Mar 2010 15:26:00 GMT WPPI. It's THE event to be at every year in Vegas and its where to learn and get to know new people. This is my second year attending and this year was even better than last. If you've been thinking about attending WPPI .. you SHOULD!
I received an e-mail a week before we were scheduled to fly to Vegas from a REALLY nice guy from Showit. Jason asked if I would be willing to sit and chat with anyone that wanted to ask questions about business, photography and just life. I was PUMPED to have the opportunity to hang out with other photographers at WPPI and meet some new people! I felt so honored but a little undeserving of this opportunity! I responded within two minutes of reading the e-mail and was STOKED to be apart of it.
It's amazing how many familiar faces you see amongst the 14,000 photogs at WPPI but it happens quite often. I ran into Jamie Delaine near some of the conference rooms and we talked about the meet up. Jamie also met up with a group of photographers earlier this week and she told me what to expect. I got a bit nervous as time crept on. People really want to come and see me talk about my business? For real? I'm nothing special and I don't run my business in any special way, its just me. I got nervous no-one would care and it would be just me and Stephen sippin on some coffee in the Showit room bummed no-one showed up. Little did I know, there were actually some AWESOME people planning on coming!
I just want to thank everyone for being so awesome and spending an hour with me talking about how we run our business. I was so impressed with how NICE and genuine everyone really was.
A special thanks to everyone in the photo below : Jamie Delaine, Emily Scott, Kristen, Katelyn James, Promise Tangeman, Heather Pepin, Jessica Smith, Alex Ho, and Jerry Vergel. (If I left anyone out, LET ME KNOW!)
Thanks so much everyone! If you haven't yet, you NEED to have a SHOWIT site. SIGN UP! If we haven't connected on twitter, we should!! Find me HERE and Stephen HERE. I finally coerced Stephen to give into the new technology :)

AND.... today I spend a few hours with an adorable couple and fellow photographer! Can't wait to post these next week!!

Katelin and Blake : Engaged at the Farm http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=138 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=138 Wed, 03 Mar 2010 12:57:00 GMT The Farm at South Mountain to take engagement photos. This location was perfect for the two of them since Blake proposed at the restaurant inside the The Farm . I listened as Katelin enthusiastically told me about how Blake proposed and I think I was just as excited as they were while they told their story. Katelin and Blake are seriously two of the most gorgeous people inside and out. I don't know them as well as I would like but I do see genuine love and character through the both of them. I can't wait for you two to be married and begin your life together. I know you will both do GREAT things together. Thank you SO much for giving Stephen and I the honor of documenting your engagement!

Kristi and Aaron : Engagements at Silverleaf http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=137 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=137 Mon, 01 Mar 2010 13:56:00 GMT Silverleaf Golf Club to document their engagement. One thing I LOVE about Kristi and Aaron is their light hearted laughter. I had so much fun watching them through my camera laugh, giggle and just smile about their soon to be wedding. We have really enjoyed getting to know Kristi and Aaron and their hearts are just simply "sweet". I just feel good being around them and CANNOT wait for their wedding. I have NO doubt it will be gorgeous and filled with alot of laughter and bliss. Thank you so much for giving us this honor to be apart of your engagement and we can't wait to partake in your wedding this week! Click HERE to see a slideshow of the engagement.

Jordan : Senior Portraits at Dc Ranch http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=139 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=139 Fri, 26 Feb 2010 23:01:00 GMT Boulder Creek High School with high hopes and dreams for her future. We met at the gorgeous Dc Ranch Market Place while the sun was high and bright and weather still a tad bit chilly. What amazed me about Jordan was our first conversation together as we walked to our first photo location. I asked Jordan what she wanted to do after she graduated and she enthusiastically told me that she would be attending NAU in the fall and pursing a bachelors of science in athletic training. She would then getting her masters and THEN taking that to physical therapy. I gasped with astonishment that she was SO excited about college! I was so impressed with her drive in life at such a young age. I admire that..
I had such a fun time getting to know Jordan and her mom Trina and I adore both their sweet generous hearts. Thank you so much for giving me the honor of documenting your senior year! Jordan, you are too sweet and you are seriously gorgeous. Stay the way you are and I know you'll go a far way in life!

I LOVE her dress!

OBVIOUSLY Jordan is a smart girl... I told Jordan to bring something important to her to the shoot. Something that represents her. She brought her math book!!?!?!! Awesome. This is one thing I love about her. She loves math... one thing I always loathed in high school was math. You couldn't pay me to take another math course! So Jordan, I admire you!

HELLO BLUE EYES!!

Watch out boys...

Tarah and Joshua : Wedding at Sassi Scottsdale http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=135 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=135 Sun, 21 Feb 2010 15:46:00 GMT When I first met Joshua, my first thought was "OH MY! These two are going to have some GORGEOUS blue eyed children!! " Stephen and I had a blast getting to know Joshua and Tarah as a couple at their engagement session. If there is one thing Im completely sure about, its that Joshua is head over heels for Tarah. I knew from the very beginning how much Tarah loved Joshua but watching them interact together in front of the camera was adorable. We felt so blessed to document not only your engagement but also the most important day of your lives.
Tarah and Joshua tied the knot at the gorgeous Sassi venue in Scottsdale. The tuscan Sassi was a perfect fit for their style and we feel SO blessed to have been apart of it. Thank you for all your love and your friendship. You both are some of the most amazing people I know and I can't wait to watch your lives grow stronger together! Be sure to check out the wedding slideshow HERE.

I LOVE this photo of Tarah and her mom Esther. The light was just perfect and it was so beautiful to watch how excited Esther was for Tarah.

Tamara at AZ Petal Pusher designed the gorgeous flowers at the ceremony and all the fabulous bouqets.

Seriously Tarah!? You are incredibly GORGEOUS!

Tarah purchased her dress and vail at the amazing Demetrios in Scottsdale.

I LOVE this photo of Joshua. So stunning! Tarah gave Joshua this vintage clock as a wedding gift with sweet engraved words on the front.

I chose this photo because I felt it showed how simply PROUD Tarah's dad is.

AZ Petal Pusher did a FANTASTIC job with the ceremony!

Sassi has gorgeous places to take photos and the light was just perfect!

Every door at Sassi are these big gorgeous brown doors and I just couldnt' get enough of them!

Even though Tarah and Joshua are out of focus, there was just something about this photo I love!! So simple, so sweet and the Arizona light is just amazing.

Tarah wore her moms pearls for the day

We also worked with the talented Daniel Wagner while he documented their wedding day on video.

Have you met Veronica? http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=134 http://www.stephaniefayblog.com/index.cfm?postID=134 Thu, 18 Feb 2010 09:46:00 GMT RM Auctions car show and would be traveling to Phoenix. I felt more than honored that Veronica actually wanted to meet me and give us tickets to the show! We were more than thrilled and made our way to oh so famous car show.
When Veronica first e-mailed me I clicked on her website and was stunned at not only how good of a photographer she is but also just how MUCH she gets to travel. Her photos are gorgeous and watch out for Veronica... you'll start to see more of her!
We chatted at the car show about photographers, lighting, and just life and where it will take us. One thing Veronica mentioned was her intimidation to dive into the photography world. I think just about every one of us struggles with this. Although she travels a ton, she doesn't have the time to book weddings since her schedule is so fast paced but it was a good reminder that there are A LOT of people that struggle with the confidence to dive into this industry for a lot of reasons. For those of you out there wondering if you should or shouldn't... GO FOR IT! Our lives are driven by fear and the what ifs... but what if we put those fears aside and went for what we wanted? Lets do it. What do you have to lose? One thing I KNOW we all struggle with including me is the fear of being good. Making mistakes and not living up to others expectations. Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there and do your best with a lot of love and thats all you can give. I think Veronica has a huge future ahead of her and I can't wait to see more of what she will do!
Thank you Veronica for extending a welcoming hello and reaching out to network. It means the world and now I have a new friend in a new place. Be sure to look through Veronica's blog! Shes been to a lot of awesome places and she DEFINITELY knows how to use light well.
