Later this afternoon, I will be meeting with a couple to shoot an engagement session. Steve and I are SO excited to explore a new area and document this lovely couple. Not only am I so excited to work with this couple because they are SO nice but they are also quite fashionable! The bride Ashley, sent me some of her clothing options this morning and I was SO impressed and LOVED that I was able to see her outfits so I could get a better feel for WHERE we should shoot their images. I write this because I feel there are SO many elements that help contribute to a great shoot. I think its important for everyone to FEEL good during each shoot. Whether it means wearing some more makeup than usual, changing your hair up a little bit or wearing something you wouldn't usually wear. Now, don't get me wrong. I don't think anyone needs to buy a new outfit, get your make up done or have your hair different. I simply mean that doing something outside the box sometimes makes you just feel different. At my rehearsal dinner for our wedding, I wore a real 1950 vintage dress that belonged to some woman many years before me. It just made me FEEL different. I felt great and LOVED how it sparkled in the light. I think sometimes doing something out of your ordinary brightens our hearts a bit. It may sound silly but I encourage everyone to do something different from the ordinary. Whether it may be wearing an old sparkly dress or donating your used clothes to charity, do something that brightens your spirit.
This is just ONE example of doing something different. ALL of my clients have been amazing and they have all done something different and new but I wanted to write about just ONE example. I feel even more inspired because my clients do and it helps us see things a bit more differently. I appreciated that I was able to see my clients outfits so I could then find a location that better suits the look they are going for. They wanted romantic urban vintage today so Stephen and I drove around town yesterday searching for a location to suit their style. I LOVE finding new spots and im excited to use our creativity on a new slate today. I write this to all photographers, and all clients to challenge yourselves to think beyond what is right in front of you. Create a scene and a feeling and you might find something new! I also write this to anyone that wants a change. Try something new apart from your ordinary. What was my change this year? Red lipstick.
Be inspired: A section of an Anthropologie catalog. I love the prop she has brought and I LOVE her outfits! It fits perfectly the location. LOVE IT. |

Hello fellow blog readers!! I recently have a break with some work until this weekend so I thought I would blog about something more personal. I just recently posted about my venture for the perfect authentic vintage dress and I have narrowed the choice down to two fabulous finds. My amazing bride Cortney sent me a link to this vintage store and I have to give Cortney a special thanks because this store is FABULOUS! ! I need some help deciding. This is where you guys come in! These two dresses are both from 1950 and are the same price, same size, but very different looks. It seems that they may need to be taken in a bit but I think they are both really unique and worth the buy. I know that this isn't everyones cup of tea but I could use some help deciding :) Anyone that reads this, PLEASE drop me a line in the comment block. Number 1? or 2?

As my wedding approaches, I keep finding more and more things I need to get done. ONE detail that will take some time, is finding the PERFECT vintage dress for the rehearsal dinner. I was browsing my mom's computer a few weeks ago and stumbled upon this FABULOUS photo of my nana. I know she is reading this and will probably kill me for posting this but I think she is the most stunning woman inside and out. I just HAD to show everyone how absolutely gorgeous and timeless she looks in this photo!! Besides my mom, and well.. every woman in my family, my nana is of course beautiful and not to mention extremely wise. I admire her greatly and am absolutely in love with this photo of her. Being said, this photo has inspired me to look for a "real" vintage dress! Although my nana no longer has this fabulous dress, I am on a mission to find the perfect one. I thought since my wedding theme is "vintage", I want to incorporate as much vintage as I can. SO... I have been keeping my eyes peeled for the perfect vintage rehearsal dinner dress. With everything that is online these days, you would think it wouldnt be so difficult right? well, every single dress I have fallen in love with... has been SOLD. The dresses I featured here next to my nana are a few darling pieces that caught my eye. I found the most amazing website that sells real "hardly worn" vintage dresses. From prom dresses, to wedding dresses, to cocktail dresses to vintage shoes... this website has it all! Posh Girl Vintage is my new favorite site. Anyone have any suggestions about places to look?! If so, leave me a comment as to where to look! On a side note, I thought I would talk about my new renovated office and share with you where I work day and night. After working at home for quite some time, I figured it was time to really create a comfortable office. I went to different antique stores looking for things to help me decorate within a reasonable budget and I found some perfect pieces! Definitely check out Ikea for desks. They have a lot of good options and they are quite inexpensive. I added a small tv next to my computer so I could watch some daily news and maybe some entertainment gossip to keep me going through out the day. :) And props... I needed a little something special to spice up the room that really reflects me. Vintage cameras!! You guessed it :) Every photographer needs a well organized place to work. Besides things being in place, its important to have a place you want to go to every day.... Im not quite finished with this project but its coming along!

I really enjoy the color green. I find it really relaxing and easy to be around.

Two things everyone needs in every office. A good solid hard drive and a vase of fresh flowers. You might not agree with me and some may think flowers are a waste of money but I challenge you to try it. Buy some fresh flowers and set them next to you while you work. I PROMISE, they just make you feel better! Be sure to check out the My Book. Its super important you have your entire computer backed up at all time!

I try not to look at the clock very much but it looks nice right? :)

AND the blackberries. Its sad that I never really leave my computer. It goes along with me all day but its a vital role for my business. I have just learned to be selfish with my time and turn it off when I need to! No teasing for not having the i phone. AT&T is horrible in my area and I like the blackberry ... ok?
