If you're a photographer, videographer or simply involved in the wedding industry, you know about WPPI. It's THE event to be at every year in Vegas and its where to learn and get to know new people. This is my second year attending and this year was even better than last. If you've been thinking about attending WPPI .. you SHOULD!
I received an e-mail a week before we were scheduled to fly to Vegas from a REALLY nice guy from Showit. Jason asked if I would be willing to sit and chat with anyone that wanted to ask questions about business, photography and just life. I was PUMPED to have the opportunity to hang out with other photographers at WPPI and meet some new people! I felt so honored but a little undeserving of this opportunity! I responded within two minutes of reading the e-mail and was STOKED to be apart of it.
It's amazing how many familiar faces you see amongst the 14,000 photogs at WPPI but it happens quite often. I ran into Jamie Delaine near some of the conference rooms and we talked about the meet up. Jamie also met up with a group of photographers earlier this week and she told me what to expect. I got a bit nervous as time crept on. People really want to come and see me talk about my business? For real? I'm nothing special and I don't run my business in any special way, its just me. I got nervous no-one would care and it would be just me and Stephen sippin on some coffee in the Showit room bummed no-one showed up. Little did I know, there were actually some AWESOME people planning on coming!
I just want to thank everyone for being so awesome and spending an hour with me talking about how we run our business. I was so impressed with how NICE and genuine everyone really was.
A special thanks to everyone in the photo below : Jamie Delaine, Emily Scott, Kristen, Katelyn James, Promise Tangeman, Heather Pepin, Jessica Smith, Alex Ho, and Jerry Vergel. (If I left anyone out, LET ME KNOW!)
Thanks so much everyone! If you haven't yet, you NEED to have a SHOWIT site. SIGN UP! If we haven't connected on twitter, we should!! Find me HERE and Stephen HERE. I finally coerced Stephen to give into the new technology :) |

| AND.... today I spend a few hours with an adorable couple and fellow photographer! Can't wait to post these next week!! |

Hey guys! I am SO excited to hang out with Showit at WPPI this Tuesday in Vegas! I will be among the 10 featured photographers to hang out with and simply talk business, photography and life. If any of you all are interested in chatting with me or any of the other photographers, be sure to RSVP HERE. I am so stoked to represent such an awesome business with a great team of people. Hopefully I'll see everyone there! :)
Also, I am SO excited to post an upcoming mock up event and an AWESOME couple this coming week. Ashley Gain is seriously one of the most beautiful and talented girls around and I feel SO honored to have been asked to photograph her gorgeous designs. She is getting ready to launch her new website and I can't wait to show what she's all about! For now, be sure to follow her on twitter. I photographed Ashley's wedding over a year ago and I feel so blessed to now work with her in this awesome industry! Check out this sneak peek for what's to come next week!

A few months ago, I received an e-mail from a blog reader that loves cars. She travels with cars, works with cars and just loves cars. She mentioned that she works with the RM Auctions car show and would be traveling to Phoenix. I felt more than honored that Veronica actually wanted to meet me and give us tickets to the show! We were more than thrilled and made our way to oh so famous car show.
When Veronica first e-mailed me I clicked on her website and was stunned at not only how good of a photographer she is but also just how MUCH she gets to travel. Her photos are gorgeous and watch out for Veronica... you'll start to see more of her!
We chatted at the car show about photographers, lighting, and just life and where it will take us. One thing Veronica mentioned was her intimidation to dive into the photography world. I think just about every one of us struggles with this. Although she travels a ton, she doesn't have the time to book weddings since her schedule is so fast paced but it was a good reminder that there are A LOT of people that struggle with the confidence to dive into this industry for a lot of reasons. For those of you out there wondering if you should or shouldn't... GO FOR IT! Our lives are driven by fear and the what ifs... but what if we put those fears aside and went for what we wanted? Lets do it. What do you have to lose? One thing I KNOW we all struggle with including me is the fear of being good. Making mistakes and not living up to others expectations. Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there and do your best with a lot of love and thats all you can give. I think Veronica has a huge future ahead of her and I can't wait to see more of what she will do!
Thank you Veronica for extending a welcoming hello and reaching out to network. It means the world and now I have a new friend in a new place. Be sure to look through Veronica's blog! Shes been to a lot of awesome places and she DEFINITELY knows how to use light well. |

I told everyone I would post the winner yesterday but I needed just a little longer to pick. Stephen and I had such a good time looking through all the entries but we could only pick ONE! SO... We decided upon ...
Ashley and Kevin
I don't know about you but when I first looked at this photo, I e-mailed Ashley back and explained that Ashely or Kevin have to actually BE IN the photograph. You cant submit photos on a table without the actual contestant being in the photograph. She e-mailed me back and explained THEY ARE IN THE FRAMES!!!! I laughed so hard when I looked at the photo again because they look like they actually are sitting on the coffee table. LOVE IT. This photo just seemed to fit all the rules and I just LOVE it. It's super creative! Congrats guys!

I know what you're thinking. This is weird. You may be laughing or you may just be saying out loud how stupid I look. I posted these photos while vacationing in Mammoth California. We just arrived a few days ago and Im already aching and bruised from snowboarding. I figured the moose head fit the location nicely and just HAD to use it for my self portrait! Why am I posting this?
Stephen and I will be house sitting for our cousin in the heart of San Francisco this coming March 22-28th. I can't imagine visiting such an awesome place and NOT photographing someone in the city. I get excited just thinking about all the gorgeous places we could take photos of someone. Last week, I tweeted (are we twitter friends yet?) and updated my facebook status looking for a couple to photograph while visiting San Fran. No charge, just a fun down to earth shoot of two fun people we've never met before. The responses to the tweets and facebook updates were AWESOME and since there were so many responses, I felt it was best to run a contest to pick the winning couple. BUT I want everyone to know that this contest is open not only to those that live in San Fran (or close by) but any blog reader that wants to participate. If you aren't able to make it to San Fran, Ill be rewarding the second most creative photo a 30 dollar Itunes card.
Here are the rules :
1. Im looking for the most creative self portrait of either one individual or both of the contestants entering to win. You have to be a couple to enter. Married, not married... doesn't matter! *** BUT if you are single you can still enter to win the itunes gift card. PLEASE still submit!
2. The photo cannot be taken by another person, it has to be set up entirely by timer on a tripod or any surface.
3. You have to use something (a prop) creatively in the photograph. Im looking for creativity. It can be funny, beautiful or just plain simple. Just looking for creativity. Doesn't matter what it is.
4. You have to leave a comment with your name and location and then send your photograph to my e-mail (stephanie@stephaniefay.com) explaining your portrait.
5. You can only submit ONE entry so make it a good one!
6.The photoshoot will have to take place between March 23rd-28th
7. This is supposed to be fun so have FUN with it! :)
THATS IT! Please send in your best photograph and we will see who wins :) I will announce the winner on Feb. 15th. and I will post all the most creative photos on my blog. We are also offering mini portrait shoots at discounted price if anyone is interested! E-mail me for all the info.
GOOD LUCK! |
